    Abstract: Silver vanadates,visible-light-driven photocatalysts,havebeensynthesizedusinghydrothermaltreat-
    ment withtheassistanceofcetyltrimethylammoniumbromide(CTAB).ItisfoundthatCTABduringthe
    hydrothermal synthesissignificantlyaffectsthemorphology,crystalstructure,opticalabsorbance,and
    photocatalytic propertiesofsilvervanadates.Thepuresilvervanadateoxides(SVO)consistedofmixed
    structures ofAg4V2O7 and -Ag3VO4, with -Ag3VO4 as themajorphase.AstheamountofCTABincreased,
    the crystalphaseofCTAB-SVOsampleapproachedAg4V2O7. ThebandgapsforallCTAB-SVOsamples
    were foundtobeintherangeof2.29–2.43eV.Thereactivityof0.5%CTAB-SVO(surfacearea,6.51m2 g−1)
    on isopropanolwas10timeshigherthanthatofP25(surfacearea,49.04m2 g−1) undervisiblelight
    irradiation. ThephotocatalyticactivityofCTAB-SVOsampledecreasedwithanincreaseofAg4V2O7. The
    highest photocatalyticactivityof0.5%CTAB-SVOhadthehighestintensitiesofsurfacehydroxylgroups,
    which weredetectedusingthein-situDRIFTtechnique.Thedensityofsurfacehydroxylgroups,notthe
    crystalline structure,wasconfirmedasthekeyfactorinfluencingthephotocatalyticactivity.
