    Abstract: Internet auctions cross a traditional trade method with a new market concept, which makes for a trailblazing entrepreneurship venture. Taiwan Yahoo! is an attractive internet auction site and provides many entrepreneurship opportunities to make entrepreneurs’ dreams come true. However, vendors in the internet auction field must face challenges such as competition, finance, management, market, strategy and technology so that many sellers have just vanished from the field. Thus, we investigate the factors contributing to entrepreneurs’ personal successes by using a qualitative grounded research method. We hope our results will be a reference for future or currently ineffective vendors.
    Grounded theory is a longitudinal research methodology, unlike many deductive approaches that intrinsically rely on questionnaire data taken at a given point in time. In addition, grounded theory can focus on the temporal dimension of internet auctions and investigate a contemporary phenomenon within its real-life context. As the study progresses, data collection, coding subsidence and analysis, and theory building become more dominant. The data collection procedure is governed by a process known as ``theoretical sampling,'' where the coding and analysis done at the initial stages determine the subsequent data to be collected. Concepts that emerge from the data and from the literature are compared and contrasted to establish hypotheses, which are then refined and elaborated to develop theory.
    Purposeful random sampling was the research method used, and an interview questionnaire was designed. Data were collected from face-to-face interviews for several months during the academic year of 2006. Using grounded theory techniques, the data were analyzed using a general method of (constant) comparative analysis and were coded simultaneously into the questionnaire, with subsequent confirmation, refinement, extension, and modification of the data.
    The finding of our research indicate that important factors include an active service attitude, a creative internet homepage, and innovative new products that will constantly attract present and new customers. Therefore, we have determined that the professional concepts of operating businesses, technological creativity, and product innovation contribute to the success of entrepreneurs and their careers in Taiwan.
