    Abstract: This paper presents a low phase noise LC tank VCO for a portable receiver front-end in a TSMC 0.35μm 2P4M CMOS process. The complementary cross-coupled topology was used in this work. The phase noise of measured value is -107.51 dBc/Hz at offset frequency 600KHz from the 1.98GHz carrier. The current of the VCO core circuit draws only 4mA from a 3V supply. The tuning range of the circuit is 248MHz (12.5%) from 1.98 GHz to 2.23 GHz. It meets the requirements for communication circuits of low phase noise and low power which have been achieved simultaneously.
