The thermal behavior of the powder constituted by nanometer-sized particles is
different from that of bulk material due to an increase in surface-to-volume ratios as well as the confinement of electrons and photons into small volumes. Therefore this paper experimentally investigates the heat transfer in the powder composed of nanoparticles. The Al nanopowder rod is wrapped into the slender tubes made of thin insulating material. The temperature
histories at some locations on the
Al powder rod are recorded using thermal
couples. The effect of particle size in the Al powder on the heat transfer is also discussed in this work.
